The plaintiff, 32 at the time of the accident, was injured while operating a transit bus that was struck from behind by a school bus, owned by Morgan Educational Services, on Route 46 in Ridgefield Park, New Jersey. The plaintiff was attempting to pick up passengers from a stop when the school bus struck the plaintiff’s bus.
As a result of the collision, the plaintiff suffered an aggravation from a prior back injury. Prior to the collision, the plaintiff had an MRI of his lumbar spine showing two herniations at L3-L4 and L4-L5. These herniations had increased in size as a result of this collision. The plaintiff underwent an epidural injection prior to undergoing a two level bilateral lateral fusion at L3-L4 and L4-L5.
Due to the injury and surgery, the plaintiff was unable to return to work as a New Jersey Transit bus driver. The case settled at mediation with the Honorable Mark B.
